About Paula

Paula Plessas-Hall has been teaching dance and fitness classes for over 20 years. She has taught, performed, and choreographed in the Bay Area and New York City. Paula has been teaching Tap, Jazz, Musical Theater, Hip Hop, Zumba Latin Styles, Dance Conditioning, and Boxercise to students at City College of San Francisco since 2007.
She choreographs for a musical theater-focused dance company that maintains a regular performance schedule throughout San Francisco. During the pandemic, Paula launched her virtual studio to meet the students and the public needs to continue their physical activity remotely.
As a lifelong learner, Paula aims to continuously bring new ideas and techniques to her classes and choreography. While in “shelter in place'' she earned a Pure Barre teaching certification and attended virtual workshops with Verdon/Fosse Legacy and Broadway Dance Theater. In addition to teaching at CCSF, Paula also teaches various movement classes at the University of California Berkeley and Club Evexia in Marin as a dance and fitness instructor.
Paula has also instructed classes at other Bay Area institutions which include: the University of San Francisco, The Bay School of San Francisco and Stern Grove Summer Dance Camp and Music Festival. When living in New York City from 1999-2004, she taught dance at fitness classes at St. Pius V High School and The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT).
While living in New York, Paula performed and choreographed in spaces like Judson Church, Merce Cunningham Studio, Shashama Theater and Princeton University and Bay Area theaters such as Herbst Theater, The Lab, ODC, and Brava Theater. She won an OOBR (Off-Off Broadway Review) for best choreography for “Baggage Claim” (see performance review), an evening-length dance with dance collaborator Ann Robideaux.
Paula received her MFA from Mills College and her BFA from San Francisco State University. She has taught at City College of San Francisco since 2007.
